Amit Kumar was born on 3rd July 1952. He is a versatile playback, director, producer and stage entertainer. He is the eldest son of the singer-actor Kishore Kumar and Bengali singer Ruma Guha Thakurta. He began his independent singing career at the age of 21 with 1973 song Hosh Mein Hum Kahan. Thereafter he sang Haseeno Ke Chakkar Mein, Nazar Na Lage Saathiyo with his father Kishore Kumar. He rose to fame with song Bade Ache Lagte Hain(1976), Aati Rahenge Baharein(1978). He sang for various films including Aandhi, Kahatta Meetha, Duniya meri Jeb Mein, Qurbani, Teri Kasam and many more.
